Kitty asked:

My sinuses are killing me! I woke up with a tremendous sinus headache that hurts from my nose up to my eyes. My right nostril is stuffed up but my left nostril is clear. I took 2 motrin sinus headache/decongestant pills about an hour ago but so far it isn’t helping much. I have a long day ahead of me at work.

Do you have any advice?

Try a humidifier. Psuedophedrine (Sudaphed) NOT PE always works wonders for me, but check with a pharmacist before you take it. It can interact with other medications you are taking or conditions you might have.
Vicks Vapo Rub works as does Olba’s oil (if you can find it). You could also try those Breatheright strips.
I hate when my sinuses are icky! I hope you feel better soon.

hi, i have been having the same problem. I would suggest u to buy a nasal spray, i use simply saline. Just spray in both your nostrils. and try to take sudafed for decongestion. Furthermore when u are going to bed take some steam. and keep your head convered after that. i hope this helps u, this is wat i have been doing. Oh and one more thing try some chicken soup. Get Well soon.

along with the medication you might try working the pressure points on your sinuses. With head tilted SLIGHTLY back, press lightly, but firmly on these point:

    1) Center of the forhead just above the eyebrow lines
    2) At the same time, above the eyebrows center of each eye
    3) At the same time, each checkbone
    4) With mouth slightly ajar, your chin.

Stay on each point for no more than 5 seconds, relax and let the points rest for 20-30 seconds and repeat. You do no have to press hard for the is to work!

You are working the areas just above each sinus cavity with the first 3 steps, the 4th point helps open the back of your throat.

It works really well with an accupressure “hammer”, but I’ve gotten used to doing it just using gentle pressure with my fingers.

This promotes drainage of the sinuses. It can also help alleviate the headache.

To be aware — sometimes the sinuses drain slowly, sometimes its like a dam breaking.

If you can do it a sinus rinse in the shower works wonders. You stand under a hot shower and let the water run up your nose. Don’t inhale. It’s a little uncomfortable at first but it will work wonders.

the hottest shower you can stand. The steam will help open up your sinuses. sudafed is the best for that. If your not feeling better go to the doctor because it could be an infection. before you get in the shower try putting vicks on the nose from centrer of eyebrows to tip of your nose and put vicks above your brows and leave it there a few minutes before you shower.

Olbas Oil is the best thing I have found so far. I find it at Whole Foods. Try any health food store in your area. It is fantastic to clear your sinuses, and I have used to to ease migraines also.
