  1. Sinus Pressure Says:

Boil a pot of water and have him put his head/nose over the steam.

  2. Sinus Pressure Says:

Warm compresses over the nose and cheeks, an antihistamine like Sudafed, saline nasal sprays and breathing in water vapor (like in a bathroom with hot water running). Anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen can help reduce tissue inflammation.

You probably won’t like this answer, but if he is in that much pain more than likely he needs an antibiotic. I get a sinus infection once every year either around november/december or in the spring time due to the weather changes in south texas…anyway so he really should go to the doc and get an antibiotic and even pain pills too.
In the meantime, Mucinex D in my opinion is the absolute best for sinus infection and he should continue taking it along with the antibiotic.
Another thing that is very helpful is a netti pot or I like neil med sinus rinse. It’s very weird at first but really helps. I always use this during the sinus infection…you can use it every day, but I don’t.
Steam showers or sitting in the bathroom with hot shower on for 15 min might help. Also if he’s not comfortable with that just get saline drops or spray for the nose…not the medicated kind cuz that can make it worse never get afrin and those kinds….just the saline ones like ocean brand. Ask the pharmacist if you can’t find them.
Ibuprofen might help a little….better than tylenol.
Honestly the best thing to do is go to the doc on mon. My doctor said if it’s not better in 5 days that more than likely it’s an infection and needs to be treated with antibiotic.
Oh also heat and moisture will help alot. So get a washcloth moist and heat it in the microwave or hot water and place it on their and repeat this for about 20 minutes. And massaging the face will help too.
FYI I absolutely hate sudafed, sinutab, actifed, advil sinus, tylenol sinus, etc. any of those kind of decongestants DON’T WORK! Mucinex however is awesome. It won’t be like an instant relief…more like an extended relief, but is much more effective than any other over the counter. It used to be prescription only. You don’t need an antihistamine or anything for allergies to treat sinus pressure and pain…decongestant is what is needed.

I always take Tylenol Severe Allergy combined with a saline nasal spray. That usually works for me.
