I’m 11 weeks pregnant and suffering from severe sinus headaches. It started a few days ago, I took some tylenol and it seemed to help. I have an appointment with my midwife on monday mornign so i will be mentioning this to her then, but until then, the tylenol doesn’t seem to be working anymore. I can barely move because my head hurts so much. There must be some other pills that are safe to take. Does anyone know of anything that is safe and stronger than extra strenght tylenol?
I never even thought of some of that stuff. I tried the vicks and it’s working good. headache is still there but i can move around now

Unfortunately, they do not recommend anything stronger than tylenol without doctor recommendation. You could try some caffeine (a soda or small coffee in moderation is not going to hurt you and might help with the headache), you could also try sitting in a hot steamy bathroom, some peppermint oil rubbed on your temples, a humidifier and/or some vicks vapo rub.
If it is severe, call your doctor – they may have someone on call that can recommend or prescribe something.
Feel better!

I hate to tell you, your midwife will not give you anything that will work. I took darvicets when I was pregnant with my son. It worked wonders. However Midwives will not give out those kind of Rxs… try an icepack… darvicets didnt hurt my son. He was born 8 lbs 15 ozs @ 39.6 weeks… He is just fine today….

Actually, I have really bad allergies, and get sinus infections…I am well versed in the sinus meds during pregnancy. Of course any medications should be taken as little as possible…however, it is safe to take sudafed while you are pregnant. any version of it is fine as well. even the sudafed PE. I checked and double checked with my midwife…if you are concerned you could call your midwife, or ob…they really don’t mind if you call, in fact, usually when they are on call they are staying in the birthing center, or maternity ward already anyway.
hope you feel better
