Luvbnamom2_2 asked:

I’ve bought air purifiers and humidifiers for the bedroom and the living room. I still wake up with horrible sinus headaches and don’t know what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I’m soooooo tired of this pain.
I have a carbon monoxide detector. It’s not that high tech though it just beeps if it detects any, but I do have one. I think I maybe should check out the fridge though that’s a good idea. Also, I do have 2 windows that are growing mold in the living room, but those are getting replaced next week. I’m checking out the fridge now and buying a new pillow. Thanks guys.

I wake up with headache too and then I switched pillows. the pillow I was using was angling my head to far up and messing with the neck alignment. try switching you pillow and if that doesn’t work you can aways use head-on.

This happened to me and a couple of things were the culprit. Carbon monoxide was leaking in the house. I had that fixed and got a carbon monoxide detector. The other thing was the fridge. It started smelling something awful. I had it looked at and the pan under the fridge was loaded with mold. The mold will cause bad headaches. We bought a new fridge and the problem was solved. Now, if you have your windows opened at night and it’s raining, the dampness will give you a sinus headache. I know what you’re going through, I’ve been there. So try a carbon monoxide detector. It really works. Mine says “warning, warning, carbon monoxide detected” I had that problem fixed. Hope this helps. Good luck One more thing, carbon monoxide is odorless and you don’t know until you have it checked. We only had it checked when someone told us that this could cause the headaches. If it goes undetected, it can be fatal. I hope you don’t have this, but people don’t normally have that checked. It’s simple. A guy comes in the house with a little device that will detect it right away.

Check for the slightest amount of spider webs at ceiling corners, around lamp fixtures. If found, clean them out.

Is there a masonry crack through which the slightest breeze is blowing. Plug it up.

Are there old papers, old books, dustry shelves, or anything else where dust mites could have accumulated, especially anything untouched for long periods of time? Get it out of there.

Have you vacuumed under your bed?

Have you kept the CAT out of bedroom? Is there a BIRD anywhere in the house? It could be the dog, too.

Your door must be SHUT while the Purifiers are running.

Do you have a woolen carpet? Have perfumes been used on your carpeting? Stop perfumes, get perfume=free detergent for the sheets and pillows, blankets and linens upon which your face lies at night.

Do not use sprays with perfume in your room.

Your own hair spray could be afflicting you as your hair comes close to your face and nose at night.

    Use a non-allergenic pillow.

If your house has a furnace that blows hot air through vents, THAT you must stop for your bedroom. This one is a BIGGIE:

    1. Use Allergy Rated Furnace Filters
    2. Get vent filters at Wal-Mart, unscrew vent grills and put these under there. Better to block vent in severe cases and use an electric blanket. Make a cover for your electric blanket that can be washed. Washing the lectric blanket itself is a no-no, they never work right after 1 or 2 washes, no matter how careful.

You can find perfume=free detergents at some stores. At dollar stores in my area they are cheap. But at most supermarkets there is a premium cost, even though they have less ingredients.

Note: I have ultra-severe allergies. Your same problem I have always found attributable to at least ONE of the above, sometimes difficult to find, you must check it all out very carefully.

There is no improvement until you find the cause, it is something above.

An oil-filled radiator, about $40 from Home Depot, is better than electric blanket or hot air vent from furnace in my opinion. That will keep chill off your bedroom after you plug hot air vent, the most likely cause of all by the way.

    Try cleaning your carpeting too.

Roaches could be a factor for some people. Even after extermination there must be a clean up.

I am well acquainted with your pain. Few know how painful this can be.

Better to find the cause and eliminate it than to take too many pills, because your allergies will become WORSE even while your are taking pills IF YOU DO NOT ELIMINATE THE ALLERGENS CAUSE.

So, nothing equals finding and eliminating the cause. Otherwise a time will come when the pills won’t work at all.

In that case you will need to RUN to M.D. for a Depo-Medrol 21-tablet methylprednisolone steroid pack. That will work a TEMPORARY miracle, giving you TIME and the ability to FIND and ELIMINATE the cause, per the foregoing.

The allergy rating furnace filters are very important and make a huge difference. Get the BEST one you can afford from Wal-Mart or Target. Change it every two months, or at least every three months.
