Emjay asked:

I donate blood on a regular basis, at least once a quarte, and have never had aproblem donating. Today I went to donate and could not because my blood pressure was too high. The lady said it could have a little to do with my two cups of coffee and bottle of coke I drank this morning, because of the caffeine. But then I also remembered that I took Sudafed PE last night for a bad headache. It is maximum strength Sinus & Allergy formula. I took one does at 6 pm, then another at 11 pm and tried to donate at noon today. Could this effect my blood pressure? I usually stay away from ANY medications for at least three days before a donation, but I just completely forgot, probably because my headache was so bad I was not thinking.

it can raise it but enough not to be able to give blood, I would call your Dr

  3. Sinus Pressure Says:

    Sinus Pressure

    Yes it can.

Some of the name brands have versions specifically for people with high blood pressure so that the medicine won’t raise it even more.
