April B asked:

I have a sinus infection and I just feel so crappy for not going to the gym for days on end. Would it be safe to still work out or would it only aggravate the symtoms?? ( sore throat, congestion, sinus headache)

You need to rest so your body can fully recover , walk around the house or garden for awhile each day .

You should wait until you get better.

just stay in bed, any kind of cardio would be hell with those symptoms. if you really want to get out of bed go for a walk or something.

You can still work out if you have a sinus infection. It usually is very good for you. In general, symptoms in the head area do not require you to stop working out. It is when symptoms are lower down that you need to stop. Working out when your stomache hurts can be dangerous. With a sinus infection just take it a bit slower, but still work out. At my university they advise sick people to exercise unless they are sick in their stomache. They say it helps you feel better.

You can probably work out as much as you feel well enough to do, but I’d stay away from the gym….you don’t want to be spreading something around there…it’s not fair to the other patrons.

You really should just rest right now. When you’re sick your body has a faster metabolism anyway, so you’re not taking away from too much by not going to the gym. With you having this sinus headache, I have found that it could make you extremely dizzy if you exercise, so you’ll only be doing yourself harm.
